1957

Elvis performed at the Kiel Auditorium, St. Louis, Missouri. Once again Elvis wore the gold suit, but after this show he didn't wear the trousers again. Elvis considered the suit clownish. Besides that, the Colonel had asked Elvis not to drop on his knees anymore because the gold was flaking off. So most of the rest of the tour Elvis wore black pants.

1960

By bus Elvis and the group went back to Memphis.

1971

Elvis contacted the karate instructor Kang Rhee, whom Ed Parker had recommended. Elvis visited Master Rhee's studio and the 2 of them immediately hit it off and Elvis received his fourth-degree black belt on this date.

1972

The last night of recording began with yet another melancholy declaration "Always On My Mind". The session was concluded at 1.00 a.m. with a total of 7 masters achieved over the 3 nights.

There was a press conference at the Saddle and Sirloin Club at the Stockyards Inn in Chicago.
Elvis performed at the International Amphitheater, Chicago. Elvis wore the $2,500 gold-leaf suit, that the Colonel had had made up by Nudie Cohen. There was a crowd of 12,000.

1958

Elvis, part of the Second Armored Division, arrived at Fort Hood at 4.00 p.m. and was declared off-limits to the press from the next day on.

1962

Elvis continued recording t he soundtrack to "Girls, grls, girls" from 1.00 p.m. to 1.40 p.m.

1972

Still in the RCA studio Elvis was persuaded to try a rock-song like "Burning Love".

1975

Barbra Streisand attended the midnight show and met backstage with Elvis afterward.
She offered him the costarring role in her upcoming remake of "A Star Is Born".
Elvis showed enormous enthusiasm for the project, which was dampened by the Colonel over the next few days.

Elvis left for Chicago with Gene Smith and Arthur Hooton.

1959

Elvis celebrated the halfway mark of his army stint with an "Over the Hump" party.

1961

Principal photography for Blue Hawaii began on location in Hawaii and continued for 3 weeks.

1962

Elvis was examined by the studio doctor in the morning for cast insurance.
Afterwards Elvis worked on the soundtrack at Radio Recorders from 1.00 p.m. to 12.30 a.m.

1969

In preparation for his upcoming Las Vegas engagement Elvis began to think about material.
Because of the absence of Red West, Elvis started to work with Charlie Hodge on plans for the show.
Today Joe Esposito purchased a new tape recorder, speakers and other audio equipment,
as well as a drum set for ongoing musical experimentation.

1970

Elvis flew back to Los Angeles and spent the next weeks traveling back and forth between there, Palm Springs and Las Vegas, never spending more than a few days in any location.

1972

Although Elvis had been rehearsing for his Vegas opening at RCA studio since 1969,
he had not recorded there since April 1960. This would also be the first time that Elvis worked with J.D. Sumner and the Stamps and with his live band. All were there except for Jerry Scheff, who was replaced by Emory Gordy. The sessions began at 7.00 p.m. and ended in the early morning hours. Elvis focused on bittersweet songs of loss and regret like "Where Do I Go From Here", "For The Good Times" and "Separate Ways", which was written for and about him.

1975

Elvis visit the Tennessee State Employment Security Office, he indicates want to work as a mecanicien. As activities he wrote, football, car's repair and go to the movie.

The Frank Sinatra show was taped at 6.15 p.m. for airing on May 12. Elvis performed "Stuck On You", "Fame And Fortune", (his new single) and with Frank Sinatra a duet of "Witchcraft" and "Love Me Tender".

1962

Elvis reported to Paramount for preproduction of his new picture, Girls! Girls! Girls! Soundtrack recording sessions began at Radio Recorders and ran from 11.00 a.m. until after midnight. In 3 days, 15 songs were recorded, including "Return To Sender".

1971

Elvis received a bill for an American flag pin, he had ordered while he was in the hospital from another jeweler, Lowell Hays.

1974

Elvis flew to California and most likely remained in Los Angeles and Palm Springs for the next 2 and a half weeks.

1975

Elvis performed at the Showroom, Las Vegas, Hilton, Las Vegas.

1976

During the evening Elvis came across an accident on I-240 and after displaying his badge,
he helped the victims.

1977

For the second day in a row Elvis performed at the University of Oklahoma Lloyd Noble Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at 8:30 pm. The crowd was 11500 and
Elvis wore the 1974 arabian suit with the original belt.

1956

Elvis flies from New York to Los Angeles for a screentest in Hollywood.

1957

Elvis sent a telegram of explanation and apology to Private Nixon, with whom there was an incident 3 days before. Then there was a meeting between Elvis and Judge Boushe in chambers and the incident was settled without legal action. Together with his parents, Elvis finalized their purchase of Graceland for $102,500 and within a few days Elvis hired a local interior decorator, George Golden.

1958

At Fort Chaffee, Elvis got himself the traditional GI haircut before a crowd of reporters and photographers.

1970

Elvis arrived home in Memphis for a couple of days.

1975

Through a snowstorm Elvis and the band came too late, where he remains in the Warwick Hotel.
At 8.00 PM Elvis performed in the "Tommy en Jimmy Dorsey Stage Show".

1958

Accompanied by Anita and his parents Elvis reported to the draft board at 6.35 a.m.
Elvis was assigned serial number 53 310 761 and after his physical he was put in charge of the group, which would be taking an army bus to Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. During this bus trip Elvis would meet Rex Mansfield, who would become one of his closest army friends.

Elvis performed at the Civic Center, Amarillo, Texas.at 8:30 pm. The crowd was 7389. On this tour Elvis' wardrobe was limited to 2 jumpsuits that he could fit into ( the 1974 arabian and the Mexican sundial ) and on this evening Elvis wore the 1974 Arabian with original belt.

Elvis, Scotty en Bill flies to New York. This is probable the first fly trip that Elvis makes.

1956

Elvis performed at "SS Mount Vernon" Washington DC

1957

Elvis attended an all-night gospel singing at Ellis Auditorium.

1958

This was Elvis' last night before his inductions. Elvis, Anita and some friends went to a drive-in and afterwards everyone went roller-skating. Elvis didn't go to bed all night.

1961

Elvis flew to Honolulu, where he arrived at 12.15 p.m. with country comedian Minnie Pearl.
After watching the way which Elvis was mobbed, she told him: "those women could kill you",
but Elvis assured her: " they're not going to hurt me". Later at 3.30 there was a
press conference in the Carousel Room at the Hawaiian Village Hotel. Elvis performed at the Bloch Arena, Honolulu, and the show raised over $62,000 toward a memorial building for the USS Arizona sailors.

1970

Elvis returned to Los Angeles and the next evening he flew on to Memphis.

1971

Elvis bought 25 watches at $75 each from Memphis jeweler Harry Levitch.

1975

Downtown Memphis Elvis was accused of pulling a gun on Private Hershel Nixon,
a 19 year old Marine, who claimed that Elvis had insulted his wife.

1958

Each night for the past week, Elvis had rented out the Rainbow Rollerdrome after its regular hours. It was on one of these nights that he met Sonny West, Red's cousin.

1960

Elvis checked into the penthouse of Miami's Fontainebleau Hotel with Joe, Lamar, Gene and Cliff. The rest of the week he rehearsed for the Frank Sinatra show.

1961

Soundtrack recording at Radio Recorders continued from 1.00 to 10.20 p.m.

1962

Elvis was released from duties after Hal Wallis had seen and approved the film.
Elvis left for Memphis right away, because Priscilla was there waiting for him.

Once again there were thousands of fans along the route.

The soundtrack recording for Blue Hawaii began at Radio Recorders at 1.00 p.m.
They worked until 11.50 p.m. In 2 days there were completed 15 songs,
including Can't Help Falling In Love. The usual Nashville players were there including Hal Blaine, a percussionist, and steel guitar and ukuleles to help create a Hawaiian sound.

1975

Elvis - march 20

1956

Elvis performed in "The Bell Auditorium" Augusta, Georgia. The Presley's moved to the new house on Adubon Drive in Memphis.

1960

Elvis and his entourage, Scotty and DJ left for Nashville for a recording sessions.
They were joined by all musician from the June 1958 session. They worked from 8.00 p.m. to 7.00 a.m. Elvis completed 6 sides for an urgently needed new single, which was pressed and shipped within 2 days, and toward his upcoming album.

1961

Elvis arrived at the Paramount studio to begin his work on Blue Hawaii.
After preproduction meetings, Elvis went to Radio Recorders to rehearse with the band.

1962

Elvis left for Los Angeles in his new Dodge motor home.

1967

After 11 days off, Elvis finally returned to the studio to begin rehearsals for Clambake.

1974

Elvis performed at the Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, Tennessee 8:30 pm. The crowd was 12300
and Elvis wore the 1973 Arabian suit with original belt and a blue cape.
Without preparations RCA had its mobile
recording truck on hand to record this final show of the tour.

Elvis leaves Precision Tool. He is not satisfied on his work and takes dischange because he also refuses to have his hair cut.

Elvis performed in "The Grand Prize Jamboree, Eagle`s Hall" Houston, Texas

Elvis performed in "Township Auditorium" Columbia, South Carolina.

1957

Elvis went to see the home his parents found earlier that week.
As soon as he had seen Graceland he made a $1,000 deposit toward its purchase for himself and his parents.

1960

Elvis rented the Rainbow Rollerdrome for a roller-skating war with the guys.

1962

Elvis stayed the night at the Anchor Hotel in Nashville and went into the studio again from
7.30 p.m. to 2.00 a.m. and recorded 4 songs, including: "She's Not You".

Elvis flew to Las Vegas for the weekend.

Elvis was discharged from the hospital and Barbara Leigh flew back to California,
while Joyce Bova arrived from Washington to accompany Elvis to Memphis.

Jessie Presley. Elvis' grandfather, died of a heart attack in Louisville. Elvis did not attend the funeral.

Elvis sent a telegram to June Juanico to meet her train during a brief layover in New Orleans. There she told him that she was engaged to be married.
Elvis arrived in Memphis at 11.35 p.m.

Elvis was thrown from a jeep rounding a corner and hurt his knee.
He was ordered to rest for 3 days and requested that there would not be an announcement to the press.

1961

Elvis was on his way to Los Angeles, but stayed the night in Chicago at the O'Hara Inn near the airport.

Elvis went to RCA Studio B in Nashville to record 7 sides from 7.30 p.m. to 6.30 a.m.
