Elvis performed in "The Missouri Theater" St. Louis, Missouri at 7.00 and 9.30 PM
Elvis was visited by Juan Juanico for a couple of days. Because of the many fans around the house they stayed inside for most of the time.
However during the night Elvis and June did go out to see some newsreel footage at the local theater. Unfortunately fans saw the limousine and vandalized it.
Elvis flew to Los Angeles with Joe Esposito, Charlie Hodge and Billy Smith.
The other guys went by car. Elvis hired Marty Lacker. Also new in the house was Scatter, a chimpanzee.
Elvis got the chimp from Captain Bill Killebrew. The monkey was trained to "drive a car". Elvis and the guys really enjoyed the things the chimp did, unlike some of the girls around
Bill Black died of a brain tumor and Elvis was quoted in the Commercial Appeal as saying that Bill "was a great man and a person that everyone loved. This comes as such a shock to me that I can hardly explain how much I loved Bill". Elvis didn't attend the funeral, as he was afraid of causing disruption.
Dr Ghanem ordered a series of tests to determine the cause of Elvis' intestinal problems. These turned up a "nonpenetrating ulcer crater" along with "edematous mucosal folds". Elvis stayed in a special wing of Dr. Ghanem's home, for celebrity patients. Elvis had to go through a new "sleep diet", consisted of liquid nourishment and sedated rest.
Elvis had contractual commitments to RCA and the Colonel had come up with several ideas to fulfill these. A collection of movie title tracks, an album especially for children and so forth. RCA had not yet responded to any of his suggestions, so now the Colonel went to RCA with a telegram from Elvis:
"I would like to work on an album for early '76 release, where I would do a combination, part conventional and part live from Las Vegas, during my Dec. 2-15 engagement. This would give a much better flavor with all the new material.
Best regards, Elvis" Nothing came from this suggestion.
After a stay of almost 3 months in a veterinary hospital in West Boston,
Elvis' chow returned home.
Elvis performed at the Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo, Michigan at 8:30 p.m. The crowd was 7200 and Elvis wore "1974 arabian" suit with "V-neck" suit belt.
