Elvis performed in "The City Auditorium" Waycross, Georgia at 7.00 and 9.00 PM
Elvis went to the birthday party for Jan Shepard, who played his sister in the movie ( King Creole ) He showed up with a stuffed tiger on his shoulders that he had named Danny Boy,
after the song he had often sung on the set. He also gave Shepard a movie camera,
with which home movies of the party were shot.
At the last minute there was a soundtrack session set up for Elvis' new film, Harum Scarum.
Due to the hurried manner in which the session was scheduled, Elvis' regular accompanists were not available ant their places were taken by Charlie McCoy on guitar, Henry Strzelecki on bass and Kenny Buttrey on drums. They were joined by Rufus Long and Ralph Strobel on flute and oboe in order to lend A middle
Eastern touch to the soundtrack. This was Elvis' first visit to a recording studio in 8 months and his distraction and disaffection with the
material was obvious. He broke off at 3.30 a.m. after only 4 hours in which he did 38 dreary takes of Shake That Tambourine.
Recording of backing tracks for the movie Clambake continued from 7.00 p.m. to 5.00 a.m.
but without Elvis, who remained at his hotel.
This was the last night in the American Studio and Elvis recorded only Who Am I?
The session and the American experience ended at midnight.
Elvis performed at the Showroom, International Hotel, Las Vegas at 8.30 PM and midnight.
There were some difficulties with the showroom sound system for some time now and the Colonel threatened that Elvis would not perform his last 2 nights if the problem was not solved.
