This day's edition of The Wall Street Journal reports Elvis' gross 1956 income at around $22 million.

1962

After fireworks at Graceland, New Year's Eve 1962 is spent at another private party,
held this time at Memphis' Manhattan Club.

1966

Elvis Presley arrives at Memphis' Manhattan Club for his annual (private) Christmas party, but, unable to find a parking space, returns to Graceland.

1967


The Bar Kays and Billy Lee Riley are among the musical performers at the King's New Year's Eve party, held at Memphis' own Thunderbird Lounge. Elvis dances with Priscilla to Gershwin's "Summertime," a song he has personally requested.

1969

The traditional Elvis New Year's Eve Party in Memphis moves to a new club, T.J.'s.
Ronnie Milsap, the house act, headlines, and songwriter Mark James is called upon to perform his own version of his "Suspicious Minds."



1970

Elvis and the group went on a special tour at the FBI headquarters.
Here Elvis expressed his admiration for J. Edgar Hoover to the FBI agent conducting the tour. Elvis also offered to serve in an undercover capacity in any way he could. On the agent's recommendation Director Hoover sent Elvis a note on January 4: "your generous comments concerning the Bureau and me are
appreciated and you may be sure we will keep in mind your offer to be of assistance." The group flew home to Memphis in a leased jet in time for the annual New Year's Eve party at TJ's.

1971


Elvis announces to his entourage that Priscilla will be divorcing him, saying simply, "She says she doesn't love me anymore." In contrast to previous years, tonight's New Year's Eve celebration is held at Graceland rather than a local club

1975

Elvis makes his biggest concert ever, earning a gross $800.000. With a crowd of over 60000!! Elvis performes at the "Pontiac Silverdome" in Pontiac, Michigan 8:30 p.m. Elvis wore the Rainfall suit with original belt.







1976

Elvis performes at the Civic center in Pittsburgh, PA, 9:30 p.m. The crowd was 16409 and Elvis wore the "Black phoenix" suit with original belt.

1958

Elvis received a letter from the Colonel that there were rumors in the press about parties at the hotel. So the Colonel cautioned Elvis to maintain a low profile.

1966

Again the purchase of the day was a horse, along with a great deal of equipment for riding..

1970

Elvis returned to Washington D.C. with 8 friends, including ex-sheriff Bill Morris, for a visit to the headquarters of the National Sheriffs Association. Elvis took out memberships for everyone to that they would all be eligible for automatic life insurance policies. Morris had also promised to arrange for an appointment with J. Edgar Hoover, but once again this failed. However, the group did went on a special tour at the FBI headquarters the next day.

1971

Priscilla and Lisa Marie flew back to Los Angeles. Following their departure,
Elvis announced to everyone that Priscilla was leaving him. She hadn't told him why,
he said, simply that she no longer loved him.

1974

For the first time, Colonel Parker is forced to cancel an entire engagement,
not just a show here and there, due to Elvis' increasingly erratic behavior.
In writing, the Colonel directs the management of the Vegas Hilton to contact Dr. Ghanem for "the proper interpretation for the appropriate press release."
Elvis telegrammed the Colonel: "Dear Colonel, I appreciate your signing any papers necessary for me while I am recuperating. The best from all the boys and myself. Happy New Year, Elvis."

1976

Elvis performed at "The Omni" in Atlanta, Georgia at 8:30 p.m. The crowd was 17000 and Elvis wore "1974 Arabian" suit with the "V-neck" suit belt.

"The Memphis Press Scimitar" proclaims that Elvis has a management contract with Bob Neal

1966

Elvis bought a horse this day. This time it was a chestnut sorrel horse named Whirlaway.

1970

Elvis drove to Tupelo to collect another badge. This one from sheriff Bill Mitchell, whom Elvis knew since he was a child.

1974

Elvis got a phone call from the Colonel. The Colonel wanted to hear about Elvis' health problems of which he had heard some rumors.
The Colonel made the decision that Elvis would not be able to fulfill is January commitment in Las Vegas.

1976

Elvis performed at the Civic center Coliseum, Birmingham, Alabama at 8:30 p.m. The crowd was 18400 and Elvis wore Egyptian suit with Indian head belt.

Vernon, Dee, and her three children move into a new home at 3650 Hermitage Dr. in Memphis.

1966

With the whole gang in on Elvis' new cowboy fetish, Elvis purchases more horses and riding equipment.

1970

Elvis is best man at Sonny West's wedding in Memphis.

1976

Elvis performes at Memorial auditorium, Dallas Texas. 8:30 P.M.

Elvis played touch football at the Dave Wells Community Center in Memphis with some friends.

Elvis received a deferment from the Draft Board until March 20, 1958.

1958

Elvis visits "Holiday on ice" backstage and he's seen with several of the stars from the show.






1965

Elvis had a small party at Graceland with food provided by Monty's Catering.
Sometime over this period of Christmas time Elvis tried LSD.
He had read about it for almost a year and wanted to try it himself.
Afterwards they watched a SF movie and ordered pizza.
Later Elvis, Larry, Priscilla and Jerry walked out behind Graceland and talked about
having such good friends and how much they all cared about each other.
As for anybody knows this was the only time Elvis experienced with LSD.

1970

Elvis bought more firearms and supplies from Taylor's Gun Shop and in the evening he
saw That's The Way It Is again at the Memphian.

Elvis, along with Priscilla and his family,
spend their first Christmas together at Graceland since the death of Gladys Presley.

1962

At a private Graceland Christmas party, Elvis presents Priscilla with a toy poodle, which she promptly names Honey. Her gift to Elvis is a wooden cigar box that plays his recent hit "Surrender."

1964

The Memphis Mafia present Elvis with their group Christmas gift:
a "tree of life" pendant inscribed with all their names.
However, Larry Geller's name is conspicuously absent. Elvis sends the gift back to be corrected.

1969

Vernon plays Santa again at the Graceland Christmas party.

1971

Elvis and Priscilla seem distant to friends and family at this year's Graceland Christmas celebration, where the King jokingly gives out McDonalds' new gift certificates as fake gifts.

1972

Elvis presents Linda Thompson with a new mink coat at Graceland's Christmas party.

1973

Elvis gives a mink coat and fox coat (with matching purse) to Linda Thompson at today's Graceland Christmas festivities.

Elvis stays home for Christmas.

1956

Accompanied by Dottie Harmony, a showgirl Elvis dated in Las Vegas, he went Christmas shopping at
Lamar Airways Center

1957

Elvis wrote a letter to the Memphis Draft Board to request officially a deferment for the filming of his new motion picture: " so these folks will not lose so much money, with all they have done so far."

1958

Elvis helped decorating the company's Christmas tree. He also entertained his fellow soldiers with a moving version of Silent Night.

1959

Elvis had skin treatments since a little while. However, they came to an abrupt end,
when Elvis accused Griessel Landau of making sexual advances.
In responds Elvis was threatened with blackmail by the "doctor", about 16 year old girls
which he knew Elvis was seeing. Elvis phoned the Colonel and the day after Elvis went to the army's Provost Marshal Division, which referred the case to the FBI.
Griessel Kandau was not a real doctor and after a small payment, he flew to London and that was the end of it.

1964

Elvis signed another one-year lease on the Perugia Way house to run through the following year.

1965

Elvis bought some gifts from Harry Levitch, including gold wristwatches, one with the initials
"GK" (George Klein) and one with "EP", some diamond rings, bracelets and charms and a butterfly pin

1966

Pressure had been mounting on Presley for years from the Beaulieu family and from the Colonel, rumors had been swirling for months even amongst Elvis fans, and he'd had an engagement ring made six months previously, but not until today does the singer get on one knee during Christmas celebrations at Graceland and present Priscilla Beaulieu with the three-carat ring, saying, "We're going to be married."

1967

A lot of party supplies were rented from Dixie Rents for the Graceland Christmas party. The ground were decorated with the usual life-size Nativity scene and 8 lighted garland trees were rented too. Nowadays they are owned by Graceland.

1970

Again Elvis gave away some Mercedeses. This time to Sonny West, who was about to get married, Dr. Nick and Bill Morris. In the early morning he visited the Memphis Police headquarters "to say hello, to the men and women who had to work on Christmas."

1971

Elvis purchased a watch of $1,100, a ring of $500 and a chain of $1,200 form Lowell Hays. This transaction took place in the Memphian's men's room.

1973

Almost every evening was spent at the movies, except for tonight:
Elvis had surgery to remove an ingrown toenail at a podiatrist's office in Memphis.

1974

Elvis loses interest suddenly in The New Gladiators, and production is immediately shut down, even though investors responded favorably to a recent presentation.
The official explanation, however, centers around the King's recent health problems.

1975

Presley awakes from a dream in which his friends all leave him after they discover he is bankrupt. So upset is Elvis about this dream, which he sees as a premonition, that he orders the guests, through others at Graceland, to leave immediately.

Elvis, Scotty and Bill gets a ticket. Elvis said later in a interview:
"I thought: Here goes my Christmas money for a traffic ticket.
But the officer let us go with a warning. After the officer left,
the 3 of us got out of the car and counted our money by the car headlights.
The money was mostly in dollar bills. Man, that was the most money I ever had in my pockets at one time! I blew the whole bundle the next day for Christmas presents."

Elvis finishes filming Wild In The Country.

1963

With Elvis having admitted to the Margret affair, and with all things apparently forgiven, Priscilla spends Christmas with Elvis at Graceland.
However, she would later claim she could never fully trust him again.

1974

Elvis flew back to Memphis with Linda and Lisa Marie.

1961

Elvis traveled to Las Vegas. He stayed at the Sahara through the holidays, probably because his father was still residing there with his new wife and her three sons.
Vernon had just bought a new house on Hermitage, around the corner.

1967

Priscilla bought a gentleman's watch for $1,500 from Harry Levitch

1970

Elvis returned to Graceland with presents for Priscilla and Lisa Marie and told them what happened over the last few days.

Elvis - december 21

1957

After visiting and conferring with the Colonel, Elvis attended the Grand Ole Opry,
accompanied by Gordon Stoker, who took him to a clothing store where he purchased a tuxedo for the evening. Elvis spent the evening chatting with performers backstage and even made a brief appearance to wave at the audience.
Before he left for Memphis he changed back into his old clothes and threw the tuxedo in the trash

1958

Elvis leased a white BMW 507 sports car. He had already a black Mercedes as well as a Volkswagen. That last one was used by Red and Lamar.
Over Christmas Elvis and his friends fooled around with the new tape recorder,
singing songs like Danny Boy and Mona Lisa.

1970

Elvis arrived in Washington and was picked up at the airport.
He dropped off his letter to the president at 6.30 a.m. Then he checked into the Hotel Washington again. Elvis tried to get in touch with the BNDD's director John Ingersoll. This failed, but there was a call from President Nixon's deputy counsel, asking Elvis to meet him in 45 minutes at the Old Executive Office Building on the White House grounds. There Elvis, Sonny and Jerry met with President Nixon. To everyone's surprise, except for Elvis' , they really hit it off, and Elvis left the following day with that what he came for: the BNDD badge.




1971

Elvis went to the Memphian and saw Dirty Harry and Straw Dogs.
He would screen Shampoo and Soul Soldier 2 days later.

Elvis picked up his draft notice and went to Sun Records.
In the evening Elvis left for Nashville to deliver the Colonel's Christmas present in person: a red Isetta sports car.



1958

Elvis returned to Bad Nauheim at the conclusion of maneuvers. Elisabeth Stefaniak had promised him to come over and work for him as his secretary to help him with the enormous amount of fan mail the Colonel had sent to Germany.

1961

Elvis finishes filming Kid Galahad and flies to Las Vegas in order to avoid spending the holidays with his father Vernon and his new wife Dee at Graceland.

1966

Having finished with the clothes, Elvis purchases two horses for himself and Priscilla, as well as two for Jerry Schilling and his fiancee, Sandy Kawelo.

1967

Elvis bought the Colonel a 18 karat gold Accutron calendar wristwatch for $595 and a second one for Tom Diskin. Elvis purchased a new grand piano for Graceland as well today.

1968

Elvis flew home to Memphis and arrived early in the morning. In the evening he went to the movies,
like he would do almost every night while he was in Memphis.

1970

Flying back to Washington, Elvis finds himself sharing the commercial flight with senator George Murphy of California. The two begin to talk about the tumult in American society, and Elvis composes a hand-written letter to President Richard Nixon, essentially asking for a Bureau of Narcotics badge. Murphy delivers the note when he lands.

1976

Elvis gives Ginger Alden a Cadillac Seville and a white Lincoln.

Elvis goes shopping in Memphis. He buys for $39,04 by the juweler and $50 by Lansky.
Also, Elvis performes at Ellis auditorium, Memphis TN. This was a christmas charity musical show. (8:00)



1957

Elvis received an informal word from Memphis draft board chairman Milton Bowers,
that his induction notice had been drawn and was waiting for him.

1962

Having apparently made his decision, Elvis meets Priscilla at his father's house in Memphis,
where she has driven in from New York City with father Vernon and stepmother Dee.
Elvis wanted to show Priscilla Graceland by him self.
Priscilla is nervous, and Elvis prescribes some sleeping pills which leave her asleep for the better part of two days.

1966

Elvis was interviewed by the Memphis Commercial Appeal and talked about Christmas time as well as in the past as in the present: "Everything is so dreamy when you are young. After you grow up it kind of becomes just real."

1970

Back at Graceland, and echoing the sentiments that have caused Presley to stay away from the Colonel, Priscilla and Elvis' father Vernon attempt to corner him to express disapproval over his lavish spending habits.
Infuriated, Elvis flies to Washington D.C., then Dallas, then Los Angeles,
where he contacts Mafioso Jerry Schilling and essentially disappears from his wife and family. Later, fellow Mafioso Sonny West will be allowed to tell his family that he is safe, but no more.

The Trouble With Girls was completed and finally Elvis was released by the studio.

1969

Somewhat later than usual Elvis returned to Memphis for the Christmas season.
Until his return to Los Angeles on January 6, he would spent almost every night at the Memphian.

1970

In hopes of placating his father, Elvis bought him a Mercedes.
Vernon had expressed his concern about Elvis' way of spending his money in the last couple of weeks.

1971

Priscilla and Lisa Marie arrived in Memphis and Elvis received a bill for the installation of a basket ball court at his Palm Springs home.

Ticketprice was $1 and the story says Elvis wore Pink Jacket and pink trousers.

Elvis presents the mayor of Memphis with a check for $55,000 to be split among 58 local charities.
On this date, RCA also extends Presley's recording contract to the end of 1971.

Elvis made his annual donation of $50,000 to a variety of Memphis charities.

Elvis flew to Memphis where he would stay most of the time until January 9, 1971.

1975

Elvis flew back home to Memphis in the Lisa Marie.

Elvis bought the Santa sleigh and 8 reindeer for $300 from Bain Sigh Company in Memphis. They are still displayed on the Graceland lawn every year.

Elvis and Priscilla returned to Memphis.

1970

Elvis countersues Patricia Parker in her paternity suit and views the final cut
of That's The Way It Is while in L.A.

1973

Including all the recordings of the last couple of days, Elvis finished 18 masters.
The songs reflected Elvis happier state of mind. For instance: I Got A Feeling In My Body, If You Talk In Your Sleep, Loving Arms, Talk About The Good Times and a rocking version of Promised Land.

Elvis performes at the Fair grounds youth center, Shrevport LA (8:00 PM).
The crowd was over 9.000 and Elvis wore a green jacket, white shirt and blue trousers. This was Elvis last ever appearance on the Louisiana Hayride.

1966

Elvis presents DJ George Klein with his Christmas present - a yellow Cadillac convertible.

1973

Elvis had a studiosession at "Stax Studios" 9.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m.
They recorded a rocking version of Promised Land

1975

Closing night at Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas. at 12:00 am. 2200 in the crowd,
